About the Unit

The position is located at the Infrastructure Department, which is part of the Naval Staff's Materiel Office and supports the Naval Commander and the Naval Staff with materials for decision-making, planning, implementation, and follow-up of naval operations. The Infrastructure Department's area of responsibility includes, among other things, the management, development, and coordination of the Navy's overall infrastructure; the infrastructure section is part of the Infrastructure Department. The infrastructure section plans, leads, and follows up the infrastructure process in collaboration with other parts of the Naval Staff, the Navy, and the Armed Forces.

Main Responsibilities

As an infrastructure officer at the Naval Staff, your work will primarily consist of preparing and compiling cases such as responses and/or opinions in decision-making and coordination issues within the areas of: Infrastructure, physical planning, national interests in and for a naval military context. Coordination and follow-up of naval infrastructure. In this role, you will prepare materials for decisions or directives regarding procurement and maintenance, as well as decommissioning and development of infrastructure. Handling cases concerning areas, land, and national interests for the Navy. The Armed Forces are experiencing strong growth, which means that the tasks may evolve over time, providing good opportunities for development in the position. The job will involve both longer and shorter business trips.

Qualifications

  • Relevant degree from university or equivalent education/experience that the employer considers equivalent
  • Relevant work experience for the position
  • Very good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Driving license B

Personal Qualities

The overarching perspective for the operation is always based on the authority's main task; to defend Sweden against armed attack. Employment in the Armed Forces requires an understanding of the main task and the ability to implement and represent this in daily work. The position requires the ability to plan and drive tasks independently as well as together with others under one's own responsibility. The tasks largely involve the need for collaboration both internally and externally, and you therefore need to be able to represent the authority, the Navy, and the infrastructure function in various contexts. Good social skills and a pronounced communication ability are necessary qualities. The work requires a high degree of security awareness, accuracy, and personal responsibility. In the recruitment process, great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious

  • Work experience in the infrastructure field in a military and/or naval context
  • Knowledge of the Armed Forces and total defense authorities' work, organization, and missions
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, the Armed Forces' infrastructure process
  • Ability to express oneself in speech and writing in English
